Chromatic alternatives

5 other tools do this job. Which one is right depends on why Chromatic is not working for you — so start from the reason, not the list.

Why teams leave Chromatic

  • Strongly tied to Storybook; without it much of the value disappears.
  • Component-level, not full-page — it will not catch a broken page layout.
  • Snapshot pricing still adds up on a big design system.

Worth saying: Chromatic is genuinely strong at this — zero-effort setup if you already have storybook — stories are the tests. If that is the part you rely on, switching may cost more than it saves.

If cost is the problem

Cheaper than Chromatic at the entry point, or free outright.

If you need open source

Chromatic is proprietary; these are not.

If it has to run on your own infrastructure

Chromatic is cloud-only; these can be self-hosted.
